What is an IYM Satellite
In our tenth year of IYM we are introducing something new, IYM Satellite's.
A shorter, focussed opportunity to connect to STEMM careers and industries for Year 11 and 12 female students, either regionally or all over New Zealand.
We are excited to work with Affinity Medical Imaging and Wellington NZ to pilot our Satellite programmes online and with a regional focus, more details to come!

IYM Satellite - Wairarapa
This Satellite Programme is a one day experience with a regional focus. We are delighted to partner with Wellington NZ to help deliver our first Satellite in the Wairarapa in 2026.
Are you a young woman in year 11 and 12 in the Wellington/Wairarapa region who is interested in Science, Technology, Maths, but not sure what a career looks like for you?
Come join us for the IYM Satellite in the Wairarapa, a hands-on opportunity to look at a variety of careers in STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and High Tech Manufacturing).
Running on Thursday 8th October 2026, 9.30am - 3pm at Wairarapa Events Centre (Carterton) as part of Carterton Space Week, https://www.wairarapa.space/carterton-space-week. IYM Satellite is an immersive, in person experience designed to inspire and connect young women with real-world STEMM pathways in the Wairarapa region.
During the day, you will meet local experts working in a variety of STEMM Industries. Come engage directly with scientists, engineers, researchers and innovators. Hear about their career pathways and the work they are doing.

How to apply
Applications are open for our Satellite in the Wairarapa with Wellington NZ.
There is so much STEMM to uncover in the Wairarapa, why not come join us. We will spend a day exploring different industries and hear from those working in a variety of STEMM areas.
Places are limited and the event cost is $30 (morning tea and lunch provided). You must be a young woman attending a Wellington region school and be able to make your own way to the Wairarapa Event Centre.
This is a first come first served application process, applications will close when full.

IYM Online Satellite - Medical imaging
The Online Satellite Programme is a short STEMM experience with a focus. We are delighted to partner with Affinity Medical imaging to help deliver our first Online Satellite in 2026.
Delivered entirely online via Zoom, this programme is for Year 11 and 12 female students from all over New Zealand Friday 5th June from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
The programme will run for two hours and include a tour of Affinity Medical Imaging, A panel of Medical Imaging Technologists, Radiologists and Sonographers and an interactive activity.
The Satellite will provide the opportunity to see firsthand what a career in Medical Imaging involves and give the opportunity to connect with those working in the Industry.
